Palm Harbor is a thriving community with more than 65,000 residents and great natural beauty. For a step back in time, stroll down Florida Avenue in historic downtown Palm Harbor, where many historic buildings remain – open and welcoming, just as they have been for many decades. Business services, beauty and barber facilities, dining, shopping and the Greater Palm Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce are located in the downtown area. Another highlight: The Annual Palm Harbor Citrus Festival, generally held in early April in the city’s historic downtown area.
Palm Harbor is also home to top ranked schools including: Palm Harbor University High School which was ranked 481 out of the 31,242 high schools nationally based on students’ proficiency in math and reading, and it was the only Pinellas school to receive a spot on any U.S. News and World Report lists.
Choosing a neighborhood to call home in Palm Harbor can be overwhelming as there are so many amazing communities to choose from! Lake Tarpon (a freshwater lake located in Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs) is the largest lake in Pinellas County with a surface area of 2,500 acres and for geography purposes I’ll breakout out the neighborhoods by east of the lake and west of the lake. Amenities in East Lake
John Chesnut Sr. Park. This county park has a boat ramp leading to beautiful Lake Tarpon, picnic shelters, a large children’s playground, and athletic fields. It’s a great place to bring the entire family. And don’t forget about your four-legged friends. It also has a dog park that makes for a great place to take your favorite pet to play.
YMCA
The local YMCA branch features something for residents of all ages: water aerobics, running education, dancing, zumba, traditional cycling, yoga, meditation, tennis and even comic book design.
Lansbrook
Bordering Lake Tarpon is this prestigious golf course community. A large (just under 1900 homes) community, with 20 distinct neighborhoods in both Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor, Lansbrook features a private lakefront park, playground, recreation complex and views of Lansbrook Golf Club. It is located across the street from the 8,500-acre Brooker Creek Preserve.
